CRKN undertook an extensive and collaborative approach to developing its 2013-2016 Strategic Plan which forms the basis of the current 2016-18 extension.
Beginning with a communications outreach in 2012 and during a series of regional meetings and teleconferences, members were given the opportunity for input and discussion. As a result of that consultation, four overarching objectives were created to capture the essence of CRKN outcomes:
- Collaborate to Advance Digital Scholarship
- Expand Content and Service Offerings
- Engage Members and Stakeholders
- Maintain and Strengthen Sustainability
This approach was well received and resulted in the 2013-2016 plan being approved intact at the Annual Meeting of the Members on October 3, 2013 in Toronto.
Based on the success of this approach, in consultation with the membership, directly and through Canada's four regional library consortia, members voted at the 2016 AGM in Halifax to extend the current plan through 2018. This timeframe brings the CRKN Strategic Plan into alignment with the five-year strategic plans developed by many of CRKN's members.
CRKN's Board of Directors reviews progress towards the strategic objectives on a quarterly basis as a standing item of business on its regular agenda.
