Dana McFarland is Librarian & Coordinator for eResources & Scholarly Communication at Vancouver Island University Library. She co-chairs the Coordinating Committee of CWAC (Canadian Web Archiving Coalition), and serves on the Open Repositories Working Group of CARL. She is vice-chair for CRKN's Preservation & Access Committee and Chair of the Canadian Content Subcommittee. She is a librarian for the Community Scholars Program, which connects eligible unaffiliated scholars in BC with academic library resources and services.
Presenting at the following sessions
Presenters will discuss thematic web archives in relation to emerging collections strategy in two different organizations. Web archiving activity is generally preservation-driven, and thematic web archiving in specific may be as well; however thematic approaches also effectively seek to augment traditional library collections with web-based content that is aligned with collections scope or mandates.

Since 2017 the Community Scholars Program has connected researchers in BC-based non-profit organizations with access to published academic research together with supporting library services. In 2021, Community Scholars Librarians undertook work on a Theory of Change, reflecting on various inputs in order to consider the development of the Program to date, its values, and how it might effectively respond to the evolving needs of participating Community Scholars, even as the program matures into sustainability, and attracts new supporting organizations.
Join CRKN staff and representatives from CRKN’s Preservation and Access Committee (PAC) and the Canadiana Content Sub-Committee for an overview of the CRKN heritage program and key initiatives over the last year.
