Membres associés
Les établissements d’enseignement supérieur canadiens sans but lucratif qui décernent des diplômes, ainsi que les organismes de recherche et les membres de la communauté « GLAM » (galeries, bibliothèques, archives, musées) sont admissibles au statut de membre associé du RCDR, dont il existe deux types :
- Établissements qui souhaitent participer au programme d’octroi de licences du RCDR ;
- Organisations patrimoniales qui souhaitent bénéficier de la tarification et des services aux membres pour la numérisation, la préservation et l’accès.
Avantages de l’adhésion en tant que membre associé
Les membres associés du RCDR font partie de notre réseau d’établissements universitaires et de recherche du Canada. Ils adhèrent ainsi à une communauté de pratique dynamique, qui se consacre à la mise en œuvre d’une infrastructure de connaissances durable.
Les membres associés qui participent au programme d’octroi de licences du RCDR bénéficient d’une instance de négociation collective qui représente plus de 80 établissements canadiens. En plus d’obtenir des prix soutenables, les membres du RCDR peuvent s’assurer que les négociations avec les éditeurs représentent les besoins de la communauté de recherche canadienne. Les membres associés qui participent au programme d’octroi de licences du RCDR bénéficient également de tarifs et de services aux membres pour la numérisation, la préservation et l’hébergement. Ils peuvent également contribuer au contenu des collections Canadiana.
Les membres associés qui n’ont pas l’intention de participer au programme de licence peuvent néanmoins se joindre au RCDR pour bénéficier de la tarification et des services aux membres pour la numérisation, la préservation et l’hébergement.
Dans le cadre de notre plan stratégique 2025–2029, nous accueillons tous les types d’établissements de recherche et d’organisations patrimoniales pour enrichir la composition de nos membres.
Le statut de membre associé offre, entre autres, les avantages suivants :
- Tarifs préférentiels pour les services de numérisation du RCDR
- Tarifs préférentiels pour la conférence annuelle du RCDR
- Accès aux listes de diffusion des membres du RCDR
- Accès au contenu sur le site web du RCDR qui est réservé aux membres
- Gouvernance par l’entremise des comités et groupes de travail du RCDR
Comment postuler
Pour devenir membre associé, les établissements doivent être canadiens, ne pas faire partie d’Universités Canada et appartenir à l’une des catégories suivantes :
- Établissements d’enseignement supérieur sans but lucratif qui décernent des diplômes
- Établissements universitaires ou de recherche
- Bibliothèques, archives, organisations patrimoniales, musées et galeries
Les membres associés peuvent choisir de participer ou non au programme d’octroi de licences du RCDR. Les cotisations et le processus de candidature diffèrent en fonction du statut.
Membres associés potentiels qui désirent participer au programme d’octroi de licences
- Les membres associés potentiels sont priés de contacter le RCDR à info@crkn.ca pour discuter des possibilités d’adhésion, ainsi que des licences qui les intéressent. Les candidats reçoivent à titre informatif le modèle de licence du RCDR.
- Les membres associés potentiels soumettent au RCDR un formulaire de demande avec les renseignements à l’appui.
- Le Comité exécutif et le conseil d’administration examinent les demandes d’adhésion au statut de membre associé. Au besoin, ces instances contactent les candidats pour obtenir plus d’informations sur leurs activités et leurs intérêts.
- Les établissements membres votent pour approuver la candidature à l’assemblée générale annuelle du RCDR en octobre.
Documents et renseignements requis :
- Demande d’adhésion au RCDR en tant que membre associé.
- Déclaration d’intérêt qui indique comment l’adhésion au RCDR concorde avec les priorités de recherche et de l’établissement du candidat.
- Renseignements sur les sources de financement de l’établissement ; montant du budget de fonctionnement et du budget de la bibliothèque.
- Renseignements sur les fonds et le personnel de la bibliothèque, notamment les individus qui seront chargés de gérer les licences du RCDR et la capacité de gérer ces licences en ligne au sein de l’établissement du candidat.
- Informations sur l’infrastructure technique de l’établissement pour l’accès en ligne au contenu sous licence.
- Nombre actuel d’inscriptions (étudiants à temps plein et à temps partiel), le cas échéant.
- Nombre du personnel universitaire, à temps plein et à temps partiel.
- Rapport sur la valeur monétaire actuelle de la recherche subventionnée, toutes sources confondues.
- Liste des autres consortiums d’acquisition de licences dont le candidat est membre.
Membres associés potentiels qui désirent participer uniquement au programme patrimonial (bibliothèques, archives, organisations patrimoniales, musées et galeries)
- Les membres associés potentiels sont priés de contacter le RCDR à info@crkn.ca pour discuter des possibilités et frais d’adhésion.
- Les membres associés potentiels soumettent au RCDR un formulaire de demande avec les renseignements à l’appui.
- Le Comité exécutif et le conseil d’administration examinent les demandes d’adhésion au statut de membre associé. Au besoin, ces instances contactent les candidats pour obtenir plus d’informations sur leurs activités et leurs intérêts.
- Le conseil d’administration approuve la candidature.

- Déclaration d'intérêt qui indique comment l’adhésion au RCDR concorde avec les priorités de l’établissement du candidat, en plus de présenter les initiatives ou les projets récents qui se rattachent aux priorités du RCDR.
Cotisations des membres associés
Les cotisations des membres associés du RCDR sont conformes à notre pratique pour les adhésions institutionnelles et dépendent de la taille de l'organisation.
Cotisations annuelles pour les membres associés participant au programme de licences de contenu du RCDR
Les membres associés participant au programme de licences de contenu du RCDR paient des cotisations annuelles égales ou supérieures aux cotisations les plus basses appliquées aux membres institutionnels du RCDR. Ces cotisations annuelles peuvent être augmentées en fonction de l'inflation chaque année. De plus, les membres associés se verront imposer une majoration de 5 % sur chaque facture pour les nouvelles licences auxquelles ils choisissent de participer, avec des frais minimums de 250 $ et un maximum de 1 000 $ par licence.

Les cotisations pour les membres associés participant uniquement aux activités patrimoniales du RCDR sont basées sur le nombre d'équivalents temps plein (ETP), comme indicateur pour évaluer la taille de l'organisation. Les cotisations annuelles sont admissibles à des augmentations annuelles en fonction de l'inflation.
Canadian not-for-profit, degree-granting post-secondary institutions, as well as research and GLAM (gallery, library, archive, museum) institutions are eligible to apply for associate membership with CRKN. With our 2025–2029 Strategic Plan in place, we welcome all types of research and heritage institutions to enrich our membership.
CRKN has two types of associate membership:
Content Licensing Program
This option is for institutions that wish to participate in CRKN’s commercial content licensing program. These Associate Members take part in collective licensing negotiations, access licensed publisher content, and benefit from CRKN's open access initiatives, without access to heritage program services.
Heritage Program
This option is for heritage-focused organizations—such as libraries, archives, museums, galleries, and related institutions—that do not participate in commercial content licensing. These Associate Members join CRKN to access member pricing and services for digitization, preservation, and access, and to engage in CRKN’s heritage program and community, without access to licensed publisher content.

Associate Members participating in CRKN’s content licensing program are represented by a collective negotiating body serving over 80 Canadian institutions. This coordinated approach supports sustainable pricing and ensures that negotiations with publishers reflect the needs of the Canadian research community.

Digitization & Preservation
Associate Members participating in the Heritage program receive priority member rates and services for digitization, preservation, and hosting, supporting long-term access to research and heritage materials.
Community of Practice
Associate Members gain access to CRKN’s member listservs and member-only website content, supporting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and engagement across the research and heritage sectors.
Governance & Leadership
Associate Members may participate in CRKN governance through committees and task groups, contributing to shared decision-making and sector leadership.
Events & Professional Learning
Associate Members benefit from priority member rates for CRKN’s annual conference and other events that support professional development and sector-wide collaboration.
Content Licensing Program | Associate Membership Application
Step 1: Prospective Associate Members are invited to contact CRKN at info@crkn.ca to discuss membership opportunities, including the licenses in which they are interested. CRKN’s Model License will be sent for review by the applicant.
Step 2: Prospective Associate Members submit an application form along with supporting information to CRKN.

Step 3: Associate membership applications are reviewed by the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, at which point additional questions regarding the operations and interests of the applicant may be raised.
Step 4: Membership is approved by a vote of the institutional membership at CRKN’s Annual General Meeting in October.
Required documents and information:

- A statement of interest indicating how membership in CRKN aligns with the applicant’s institutional and research priorities
- Information about the institution’s sources of financing and the size of its operating and library budget
- Information about current library holdings and library staff, including who will be responsible for administering CRKN licenses within the applicant’s institution and the institution’s capacity to administer online licenses
- Information about the institution’s technical infrastructure that supports online access to licensed content
- Current enrolment figures (FTE students, both full and part-time), if applicable
- A listing of the number of academic staff, both full and part-time
- A report of current dollar value of sponsored research, from all sources
- A list of other licensing consortia of which the applicant is a member
Heritage Program | Associate Membership Application
Aimed at: Library, Archive, Heritage, Museum and Gallery organizations
Step 1: Prospective Associate Members are invited to contact CRKN at info@crkn.ca to discuss membership opportunities and membership fees.
Step 2: Prospective Associate Members submit an application form along with supporting information to CRKN.

Associate Membership Fees
CRKN's associate membership fees are consistent with our practice for institutional memberships and dependent on the size of the organization.
Annual Membership Fees for Associate Members Participating in CRKN's Content Licensing Program
Associate Members participating in CRKN's content licensing program pay an annual membership fee equal to or more than the lowest membership fee applied to CRKN's Institutional Members. This annual fee may be increased based on inflation annually. In addition, Associate Members will be levied a 5% surcharge on each invoice for new licenses in which they elect to participate, with a minimum charge of $250, up to a maximum of $1,000 per license.

Associate membership fees for Associate Members participating in CRKN's heritage program are based on full-time equivalent staff numbers, as a guideline for assessing organizational size. Annual membership fees are eligible for annual increases based on inflation.
