Lightning Talk — Session 1: Testing New Tools for Better Navigation: Building a Table of Contents Creator for IIIF Manifests
10:00–11:30 AM PST
Percy Miller, Canadian Research Knowledge Network
At CRKN, we are exploring new ways to make Canadiana collections easier to navigate and more accessible for researchers and the public. This lightning talk will describe how the Digirati IIIF Manifest Editor, particularly the structured table of contents feature, will increase the searchability and accessibility of the items within our collections. In iterating and testing this tool, we have also been able to create student experiential learning opportunities.
Lightning Talk — Session 3: Thinking Through Experience: IIIF Use, Usability, and Re-Use
11:00 AM–12:15 PM PST
Brittny Lapierre, Canadian Research Knowledge Network
This joint lightning talk from the IIIF Education and Accessibility and Usability Community Groups will explore how IIIF can more effectively serve the public in teaching, research, and public engagement. Building on recent cross community discussions, the presentation will consider three interconnected areas of focus: use, usability, and reuse. Together, these concepts help us understand how people encounter, apply, and benefit from IIIF in practice.
