Situating Representations of Indigenous Knowledge in Place & Context: Recommendations for Vendors

As we undertake the ongoing learning necessary to realize our decolonization commitments, we have drafted a document entitled “Situating Representations of Indigenous Knowledge in Place & Context: Recommendations for Vendors” as a resource for vendors and publishers to consider and apply to their practice as they seek to provide services to us. The recommendations are intended to evolve and be adapted over time. See document here: https://library.viu.ca/ld.php?content_id=36031193

Digital Scholarship and Diasporic Collections

The University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) is embedded in a diverse community that is home to one of the largest Tamil speaking diasporas outside of South Asia. To better reflect this diversity, the UTSC Library has contributed to the development of a Digital Tamil Studies program in an effort to better align with our institutional EDI initiatives and more accurately reflect the UTSC’s community.

Digital forensics and digital preservation strategies are relatively new practices within the archival profession. For many institutions, these practices were developed many years after digital records were first acquired. Consequently, open and transparent conversations about digital preservation practices with donors of early digital acquisitions often did not take place.

Counting the dollars: developing a method to estimate campus-wide spend on article processing charges

As they adapt their business models to Open Access (OA), journal publishers are offering discounts on OA article processing charges (APCs) – or waive them altogether – in addition to read-access to journals. As more library consortia enter these “transformative” agreements, libraries must consider the value that these discounts bring in their local context.
