Collaborations
Through our collaborations with librarians, researchers, administrators, funders, publishers and other stakeholders in the research community, CRKN connects associations, organizations and individuals working together to advance research in Canada.
CRKN invites like-minded organizations to collaborate on projects that focus on building knowledge infrastructure and research and teaching capacity in Canada’s universities. To learn more about CRKN’s mission, vision and values, visit the About CRKN page.
Collaborative Projects
Coalition for Canadian Digital Heritage
The Coalition for Canadian Digital Heritage (CCDH) is a cross-sectoral collaboration of memory organizations working to expand digital access to Canada’s cultural heritage. CRKN serves as Secretariat, providing governance, administrative, and communications support to advance the CCDH’s community-driven strategic priorities.
Érudit x CRKN: Partnership for Open Access
The Partnership for Open Access (POA) is a long-standing collaboration between CRKN and Érudit that supports non-commercial scholarly journals and advances diamond open access publishing in Canada. Through collective library investment, the POA enables immediate open access to thousands of scholarly articles each year—without fees for authors or readers.
The Digital Research Alliance of Canada
CRKN works closely with the Digital Research Alliance of Canada to advance persistent identifier (PID) adoption nationwide, including co-managing the DataCite Canada consortium. Together, we support the implementation of Canada’s National PID Strategy to strengthen open, connected, and trustworthy research infrastructure.
Humanities and Social Sciences Digital Research Infrastructure in Canada
CRKN actively supports community-led digital research infrastructure for the humanities and social sciences (HSS) in Canada. Through collaboration with national partners, CRKN helps advance sustainable, people-centred infrastructure that preserves knowledge, supports open research, and reflects the distinct needs of HSS disciplines.
SCOAP³ (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access in Particle Physics Publishing)
CRKN members fully participate in SCOAP³ by redirecting subscription fees to support this international open access initiative. CRKN coordinates Canada’s contribution and is the signatory for Canada’s participation, providing a seat for Canadian institutions on the SCOAP³ Governing Council.
