CRKN is committed to providing access to data relating to the Canadiana collections, including metadata in a variety of formats and annual usage reports. This page will be updated as metadata and usage statistics become available.

Current Canadiana MARC Records

MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloguing) records are available for the Canadiana collection. CRKN provides MARC records in the following discovery systems:

Archived Canadiana MARC Records

The files below are no longer current and have been archived. All records contained in these files are available in the current MARC records above. They continue to be available for reference.

Dublin Core Records

Dublin Core records are available for serials in the Canadiana collection.

Interim Updates to Indigenous-Related Terminology

CRKN is committed to updating descriptions, search terms, keywords, and other classifications relating to Indigenous peoples in accordance with current community standards and best practices. Under the guidance of the Preservation and Access Committee, we are developing a plan to integrate culturally sensitive metadata and descriptions.

Usage Reports

Summary reports of usage data are available for the Canadiana and Héritage collections from 2021 onwards. Reports include information on the top 50 titles accessed by users, the top 25 countries in which users are located, channel type (how users accessed Canadiana), and device type.

Reports from 2021-2023 were produced on a quarterly basis with data from Google Analytics. Reports from 2024 onwards are produced on an annual basis with data from Matomo*, an open source analytics tool with a focus on data privacy. However, country-level data continues to be sourced from Google Analytics.
