Overview
CRKN is partnering with PALCI (Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc.) and a number of international library consortia, including Jisc, Couperin, and CDL (California Digital Library), to develop an open technology, usage data platform for library consortia and their members. This platform will be used for the collection, display, and analysis of consortial library usage data.
In 2017, the project was awarded an IMLS (Institute of Museum and Library Studies) grant to develop a proof of concept. The prototype code from that project is available on Github. Memorial University of Newfoundland and the University of Ottawa participated in the development of the proof of concept.
The project was awarded a second IMLS grant in 2018 to develop the prototype software into a production-ready tool. As of May 2020, the core functionality of the software is complete and Phase II of the pilot phase was recently completed in the spring of 2021. CRKN participated in the pilot phases, both at the consortial level and with several members who volunteered to test at the institutional level. The code for the pilot phase is also available on Github.
