On behalf of our members, CRKN has now negotiated three transformative agreements (TA). With the goal of providing a forum to learn about and discuss TAs and consider their strategic place in the Canadian scholarly ecosystem, CRKN’s Content Strategy Committee is excited to announce a webinar series on transformative agreements. Bringing together speakers from CRKN member institutions, library consortia, stakeholders and not-for-profit publishers, these webinars will offer nuanced discussions on transformative agreements in Canada and how they can be considered within a sustainable open access strategy.

May 11 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT: An Introduction to Transformative Agreements in Canada
The goal of this session is to provide an overview of transformative agreements within the Canadian context from institutional, regional, and national perspectives. Speakers will discuss the fundamental concepts of transformative agreements, outline factors to consider when examining transformative agreements, and explore lessons learned to date. Participants are encouraged to come with questions and ideas to discuss. The suggested audience for this webinar is staff from CRKN member institutions and stakeholders who wish to learn more about transformative agreements in Canada.

June 8 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. EDT: Open Access Agreements: Where do Transformative Agreements Fit?
This webinar examines transformative agreements as a transition step toward fully open access publishing models. This session will help to identify member and community-driven goals for transformative agreements and consider how we can collectively measure their success. The discussion will also consider the risks and opportunities of transformative agreements within the context of multi-pronged approaches to open access, as well as other open access models and agreements in Canada and internationally. The suggested audience for this webinar is decision-makers and library practitioners who are developing open access strategies on campus, in addition to funders and other stakeholders contributing to Canada’s open scholarship landscape. October 13 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. EDT: A Conversation with Canadian Publishers on the Future of Open Access Agreements
In this webinar, representatives from Canadian journal and monograph publishers will discuss their approaches to open access agreements, including the impact of transformative agreements from the publisher perspective. Speakers will also discuss their perspective on the future of open scholarship, as well as outline opportunities for alignment.

March 22 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. ET: Enabling Open Access: Tools and Services to Promote OA on Campus
Join us for a discussion on how CRKN members have initiated conversations with central administration, faculty, students, and colleagues to raise awareness of the importance of open scholarship. Speakers will share how these conversations were initiated, what information and data was required, and how any action plans were launched. In this webinar, we will also provide an opportunity for members to share the tools, services, conversations, and strategies they need to achieve open access priorities on their campus.
