CRKN is pleased to share the release of our Canadiana User Survey Report, which presents findings from over 13,000 pop-up survey responses gathered from the Canadiana platform between November 2023 and June 2024.
This survey marks the first major user research initiative on Canadiana since 2018 and reflects growing engagement across a broad community of users—from genealogical researchers and educators to members of the general public, writers, and GLAM (gallery, archive, library, museum) professionals.
The report highlights key areas of interest, with history, genealogy, and Indigenous studies emerging as top fields of study. It also shows strong uptake from across Canada, with responses from all provinces and two of three territories, as well as international users.
The findings will help guide future development of Canadiana, including upcoming user interviews, outreach strategies, and planned infrastructure updates to enhance usability and discoverability.
