Members have provided CRKN and the Content Strategy Committee with strong direction for this year’s negotiations with commercial publishers – costs are unsustainable and must be addressed by meaningful and lasting reductions. In the licensing update, we heard about the latest negotiation results, the cost savings achieved thus far, and the potential for additional progress. In this session, we hope to discuss with members the potential for consensus around a collective strategy to redirect a portion of these savings towards open access programs that are homegrown in Canada and directly support Canadian researchers.
