From talk to action: Moving EDIA and Indigenous Initiatives forward
This presentation will describe the first 18 months of the McGill University Libraries' experience with a full-time position focusing on equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility (EDIA), and reconciliation, with the goal of embedding these values into the Libraries services, collections, spaces and workforce. The presentation will describe building upon previous projects at the individual or departmental level to create one-year action plans for EDIA and Indigenous Initiatives in the Libraries, recruiting 24 EDIA and Indigenous-themed projects and teams to work on them, and the outreach work necessary for this work. The talk will wrap up with a look inside select projects to examine challenges and impact, and a reaction on how to respond to the EDI skepticism that is on the rise in North America.
