Ottawa, ON and San Francisco, CA — The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) and the Public Library of Science (PLOS) today announced an agreement for CRKN members to participate in PLOS’ Community Action Publishing (CAP) program, a new collective action publishing model from PLOS, enabling 19 participating CRKN institutions to publish fee-free in PLOS Medicine and PLOS Biology.

The 2020 CRKN Virtual Conference, held from October 1 to 29, 2020, was a resounding success amid the unusual and challenging circumstances facing our community this year. Originally intended as an in-person event in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the conference shifted to a virtual environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Sessions were held on afternoons twice weekly to accommodate changing work and life patterns this year, and all presentations were conducted remotely.

Ottawa, ON, and Baltimore, MD, December 9, 2020: The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) and the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) today announced a consortium agreement to provide NISO Library Standards Alliance (LSA) membership to all CRKN institutional members, as well as associate members participating in CRKN’s content licensing program.

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) and the National Heritage Digitization Strategy (NHDS) are pleased to announce that the NHDS Steering Committee has voted to officially transfer the NHDS Secretariat to CRKN. The vote was made at the September 23, 2020 meeting of the NHDS Steering Committee, and the transfer takes effect immediately.
