From National Strategy to National Action: Advancing PIDs across Québec and Canada
Canada’s National PID Strategy is a call to action: to make PIDs a core part of how research is connected, credited, and shared in Canada. Building on the Strategy’s March 2026 publication, this session will focus on what its calls to action mean in practice for institutions, funders, and research communities, with particular attention to the momentum building in Quebec. The session will also highlight ORCID-CA’s growth, including its expansion to more than 60 members and strong uptake among Quebec institutions.
Through examples from FRQ and INRS, the discussion will showcase how PID adoption is advancing in Quebec and why it matters for researchers, institutions, funders, and the province. FRQ will offer insight into their PID uptake, promotion, and implementation, including the use of ORCID, DOIs for Awards, and collaboration with national partners like CFI and CIHR. INRS will bring an institutional perspective on the value of PIDs in practice, while helping situate Quebec as a leader in Canada’s evolving PID landscape.
