Gabriel Joyal
Gabriel Joyal acts as strategic advisor to the Scientific Director at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique (INRS) in Canada. He is currently co-leading the development of the institution’s first research excellence and impact framework. As part of this initiative, Gabriel engages both the INRS research community and external partners to co-create a shared, responsible, and dynamic research impact culture. He contributes to the adoption of evidence-based decision-making processes in research support, development, and evaluation.
A curious geographer and people-oriented researcher, Gabriel has led several community-based projects focused on coastal and marine monitoring and protection. Through knowledge mobilization and applied technology transfer, he has worked closely with coastal communities across Canada, from the Gulf of St. Lawrence to the High Arctic.
