CRKN is pleased to participate in the Canadian Scholarly Publishing Working Group building on work and partnerships developed over the past few years. The Working Group includes stakeholders from across the full spectrum of the Canadian scholarly communications ecosystem and on November 7, 2016, the Working Group held its first full-day meeting in Ottawa.

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network is pleased to introduce Jason Friedman, Member Services & Licensing Officer, effective October 11, 2016. In this role, Jason will have responsibility for providing license maintenance support to members, administering the content program including coordinating and supporting the negotiations process and on-going contracts management. Jason will work closely with the Content Strategy Committee, provide staff support to the Serials Management Sub-committee and will advance CRKN's Journal Value Analytics service.

Ottawa – September 8, 2016 – The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to announce Leslie Weir as the recipient of the 2016 Ron MacDonald Distinguished Service Award. The award will be presented on October 19, 2016 in Halifax, Nova Scotia as part of CRKN’s annual general meeting.

CRKN is pleased to welcome David Purdy as Digital Services Intern. This position is funded in part by the Government of Canada, through the Young Canada Works program administered by the Canadian Council of Archives. David will work alongside CRKN’s licensing team on member-focused digital projects, including a refresh of the CRKN website.

CRKN and the Model License Task Group is pleased to announce that the updated Model License is now available for use. After over a year of systematic reviews, assessments, and consultations, the new Model License is updated to include current best practices and guidance for future trends.
The Model License allows CRKN to have a standardized set of rights and permissions for digital content that is licensed for CRKN member libraries. The goal of the Model License is to:
