Save the Date for the 2022 CRKN Conference!

CRKN is excited to announce that the 2022 CRKN Conference will be our first hybrid conference! Join us from October 3-7, 2022 online and from November 1-2, 2022 in Montreal.

Be sure to mark your calendars with the following dates for virtual thematic programming from our community and in-person CRKN workshops and sessions, including the annual Meeting of the Members. Further details on the schedule and program will be available in the coming months.

Deadline Extended: Researcher Council Call for Nominations

CRKN has extended the call for nominations for the CRKN Researcher Council until Friday, May 6, 2022. See below for details on how to submit your nomination.

The CRKN Board of Directors seeks nominations for the inaugural CRKN Researcher Council who will provide advice and recommendations to CRKN as we prepare a large-scale, multi-institutional, multidisciplinary funding application for the Canada Foundation for Innovation - Innovation Fund (CFI IF).

The CRKN Board of Directors seeks nominations for the inaugural CRKN Researcher Council who will provide advice and recommendations to CRKN as we prepare a large-scale, multi-institutional, multidisciplinary funding application for the Canada Foundation for Innovation - Innovation Fund (CFI IF).

Updates to the Canadiana Website User Interface

CRKN is pleased to announce several updates to the user interface of the Canadiana website, Héritage website, and other collections hosted by CRKN, which take effect on April 4, 2022.

These updates include the following new features and improved functionalities:

CRKN Office Consolidation

Since 2018, following the merger with Canadiana, CRKN has maintained two offices in Ottawa. The lease on our Holland Ave. office expires at the end of this month, March 31, 2022, and the decision was made last year not to renew the lease, but rather to consolidate into our Wellington St. office in the Library and Archives Canada building.

CRKN Announces Transformative Agreement with Institute of Physics Publishing

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) has negotiated a cost-neutral transformative read-and-publish agreement with Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP). This agreement includes unlimited reading and open access publishing in most IOPP hybrid and gold journals at no charge to authors affiliated with participating CRKN institutions. The agreement also allows for perpetual access rights to IOPP journals included in the agreement.

CRKN Announces Transformative Agreement with Cambridge University Press

The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) has negotiated a transformative read and publish agreement with Cambridge University Press (CUP). This cost-neutral agreement includes unlimited reading and publishing at no charge to authors affiliated with participating institutions in nearly 400 CUP journals, including all hybrid and gold open access journals.

Decolonizing Canadiana Metadata: An Overdue Step in Removing Harmful Subject Headings

CRKN has completed the first step in decolonizing Canadiana collection metadata by replacing the subject heading “Indians of North America” with “Indigenous peoples.”
