Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre
Naomi Lloyd (she/her) is the Metadata Team Lead at the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre at the University of British Columbia, which is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the hən̓ q̓ əmin̓ əm̓ speaking xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam people). Naomi oversees the Centre’s content management system, metadata model, and records. She is of South African settler ancestry and is committed to disrupting the colonial practices that inform archival, library, and museum practice. Naomi has a master’s degree in library and information studies from the
University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and a doctorate in history from the University of British Columbia.

The Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre works to support meaningful access to Residential School records for survivors and their families in British Columbia and beyond. Our presentation will describe a project at the Centre to update the names of Indigenous communities on our residential school records for British Columbia.
