Transforming Scholarly Communications: CSC and Licensing Update

Please join CRKN staff and Denise LaFitte (Chair of the Content Strategy Committee) for our annual update on licensing activities and renewal negotiations. Our session will begin with a brief overview of outcomes from last fiscal year, followed by significant time to review this year’s negotiation results (Elsevier, Oxford, and Sage) and gather feedback and guidance from members on next steps. Updates will also be shared regarding preparations for next year’s negotiations, particularly with respect to Springer Nature, and on the latest developments regarding the expansion of the Scholars Portal journals platform for all CRKN members. As always, the input from members during the licensing session is critical for the work of the CSC, and we are looking forward to an interactive and vibrant discussion in Vancouver!

CRKN respectfully acknowledges that its offices are located on the traditional, unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe People. We also recognize that our member institutions are situated across the land now known as Canada, and we extend our respect and gratitude to all First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities.

Through our work—particularly with the Canadiana and Héritage collections—we are committed to acknowledging colonial injustices, supporting First Nation, Inuit, and Métis data sovereignty, and working in partnership with communities. We strive to engage in respectful practices that honour community protocols and uphold the right of Indigenous Peoples to determine how materials related to their heritage are governed.
