Mary Ochana

Research Intelligence Project Analyst
University of Waterloo

Mary Ochana is a Research Intelligence Project Analyst at the University of Waterloo Library, where she leads initiatives to implement persistent digital identifier (PID) infrastructure and advance research intelligence and scholarly communications. She collaborates across campus to promote open access, bibliometrics, and responsible research impact practices. Mary is currently pursuing a Master of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alberta and holds a degree in Geomatics and a Master of Development Practice from the Faculty of Environment at the University of Waterloo. Her work reflects a commitment to equity, transparency, and innovation in research ecosystems.

Persistent identifiers (PIDs) are foundational to advancing open scholarship, improving research visibility, and enabling interoperability across systems.
