Laura Bredahl

Bibliometrics and Research Impact Librarian
University of Waterloo

Laura Bredahl is the Bibliometrics and Research Impact Librarian at the University of Waterloo Libraries. She leads initiatives related to bibliometrics and research impact, researcher identity management, persistent identifiers, and open scholarship. Laura has collaborated with campus partners to advance ORCID adoption and integrate PIDs into institutional workflows. Her work focuses on building sustainable systems that support research visibility and compliance while promoting open science principles.

Persistent identifiers (PIDs) are foundational to advancing open scholarship, improving research visibility, and enabling interoperability across systems. In 2024, the University of Waterloo launched an ORCID Implementation Pilot to strengthen researcher identity management and streamline workflows
