CRKN Welcomes Capilano University as its First Associate Member
The CRKN Board of Directors is delighted to announce that Capilano University will become the first Associate Member of CRKN. By becoming an Associate Member, Capilano University will have the opportunity to take part in CRKN’s commercial content licensing program to enrich scholarship and resources for students, faculty, and researchers. In addition, Capilano University will participate in knowledge sharing and other CRKN projects and initiatives to expand research capacity on campus.
Toronto Public Library Joins the Canadian Research Knowledge Network
Ottawa, Ontario - The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) is pleased to welcome the Toronto Public Library (TPL) as its 76th institutional member. As a founding member of Canadiana.org, TPL has been contributing to the sharing and preserving of Canadian documentary heritage for over 40 years. As an institutional member of CRKN, TPL will contribute to the development and sustainability of the Canadiana platform and collection of over 60 million pages of digitized documentary heritage.
Discover Canadian Open Access Journals with the New CRKN Open Access Journals List
CRKN is pleased to announce the launch of the new CRKN Open Access Journals List. This list includes over 400 open access journals hosted at CRKN member institutions and covers a variety of disciplines.
CRKN is Seeking a Branding Consultant
The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), a not-for-profit partnership of Canadian universities and stakeholders in the gallery, library, archive, and museum community, is in the process of a strategic review. As part of this review, an updated five-year strategy will be defined that will include an updated mission, vision, and values. In April 2018, CRKN merged with Canadiana.org to create a combined organization under the leadership of CRKN. This merger has expanded strategic opportunities and broadened the CRKN stakeholder community.
CRKN and CARL Join SCOSS, the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services
March 18, 2019 – The Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) and the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) are collaborating to facilitate Canadian support of international open infrastructure through the Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS). Under this initiative, Canadian institutions will contribute toward the sustainability of selected key international services in the open scholarship ecosystem.
CRKN and CARL Support the University of California in Taking a Bold Stand for Openly Available Research
Last week, the University of California, whose ten campuses comprise one of the largest research institutions in the world, decided not to renew its subscription with Elsevier. This monumental decision follows other initiatives in Europe, Asia and elsewhere that likewise aim to expand open access options and prevent unsustainable cost increases to journal subscription packages.
New Release of Canadiana Online MARC Records Available
CRKN is pleased to announce a new release of MARC records for the Canadiana Online collections.
Canadiana Online MARC Records Now Available
CRKN is pleased to release 75,497 MARC records for the Canadiana Online collection. MARC records are now available for 85% of the monographs currently in the Canadiana Online collection. Early in 2019, MARC records for the remaining Canadiana Online monographs, as well as for periodicals, government publications, and newspapers in the collection will also be available.

The role of the Platform Technical Sub-Committee (PTSC) is to provide CRKN staff with feedback, advice, and recommendations on policies, practices, technologies, infrastructure, and approaches to digital collections management.
Heritage Content Priorities Task Group (HCPTG)
